Daily Schedule

Note: Although our routine is the same every day, our schedule is flexible as needed to meet the needs of our students.
  • 9:00-9:10 Arrival*

    • The children are greeted as they come in. They hang up their backpacks, put away their belongings, and unpack their daily folder.

  • 9:10-9:30 Table Time

    • Table time consists of simple activities, which allow the children to transition into their school day. They will sit at a table and do an independent activity such as: puzzles, coloring, play-dough, legos, file folder games, etc.

  • 9:30-9:45 Attendance and Circle Time

    • This is the beginning of our instruction. The children will sit with Miss Cheyenne on the carpet and do several of the same activities on a daily basis. This will help the children to develop a comfortable routine. Circle time will include: the pledge, calendar, attendance, read-aloud, and songs.

  • 9:45-11:15 Snack and Language Arts (or content)

    • Language arts is a mix of whole group, small group, one-on-one, and independent activities. During small group and one-on-one sessions, lessons are targeted to meet their individual goals and needs. Language arts includes: themed hands-on lessons in reading, writing, and other important foundational skills.

    • Snacks will be one of our small group rotations. Snacks are provided by MCPKA. During snack, the children are encouraged to socialize with their peers while enjoying their snack. As they finish snacks, they are expected to clean up after themselves and then begin their independent reading time.

  • 11:15-12:15 Recess and Lunch

    • Weather permitting, we will play outside every day. Children will be encouraged to put on their jackets/coats independently. Assistance will be provided as needed. Children should wear comfortable shoes that are good for running and climbing. If the weather does not permit outside play, we will have music and movement inside along with learning centers.

    • When coming in for lunch, the children will be hanging up their belongings after playing outside, using the bathroom if needed, and washing their hands before eating. We all sit down for lunch, socializing and eating together. When finished, the children are expected to clean up after themselves.

  • 12:15-1:30 Quiet Time and Learning Centers

    • Please avoid arrival/dismissals during this time. Thank you!

    • We will have a quiet time each day. This gives each student time to take it easy and regroup from our busy day. During this time, we will have calming music, and the lights will be off. Students who do not rest or who wake up early will be able to choose a center.

      • Learning centers are activities located in specific areas of the classroom. Some learning centers are independent activities, while others are small group activities or activities completed with a teacher.

      • Examples  of centers: writing center, science center, reading center, math center, dramatic play center, block center, arts & crafts center, sensory center, puzzles and game center, etc. Learning centers focus on at least one developmental area. For example:

        • Science Center: asking questions and defining problems, making predictions based on observations, exploring and investigating, making and recording observations, acquiring scientific vocabulary, developing inquiry skills.
